17-year-old girl who filmed George Floyd's death to be awarded for her bravery

A 17-year-old girl who recorded the brutal killing of George Floyd that led to a worldwide movement against police brutality will be awarded for her bravery.

Darnella Frazier recorded the final minutes of George Floyd.

PEN America announced on Tuesday, October 27, that it would be honouring Darnella Frazier with the annual PEN/Benenson Courage Award.

The organisations CEO Suzanne Nossel tweeted that had it not been for her presence of mind and readiness to risk her own safety, the truth behind Floyd's death would not have been known.
